Home Inspector Course

Study online and begin training to become a home inspector. The home inspection course is designed to school the student on all facets relating to the inspection of homes and prepare the person to start a business in home inspecting.

Career and Job

A home inspector will evaluate a property for homes, in order to provide an honest appraisal of the condition of the house before a real estate transaction. This home inspection evaluation is not the same as a property value appraisal. An inspector will carefully assess the home for foundation health or problems, electrical, plumbing and more. The home inspection report will include a detailed listing of all areas in the property itself and an evaluation. The form will include recommendations on whether to replace or repair items and an analysis on the severity of the problem.

A buyer of a home should always hire a qualified home inspector before purchasing. Home inspection is a high demand profession because of the need to have this service performed on almost any property that is bought or sold.

Choose your state and begin learning online on how to become a home inspector. Each state course will offer full training and exams to test the student. There is no license required, however training by a school provider to learn the home inspection business is required. Once the course is completed, you will have the tools to begin this rewarding career part time or full time.

Online school curriculum includes:
Interiors, Exteriors, and Electrical
Insulation and Ventilation
Structural
Plumbing
Roofing Systems
Garages

The courses are completed on the internet using the Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5/6.0 web browser on your computer. Each lesson is an interactive tutorial that presents information and asks you questions about what you have read. The interactive learning process monitors your progress and provides feedback as needed to help you learn the material easily. The lessons are designed so you can work at your own pace. It is easy to use and does not require extensive prior experience with computers. Details on the process are given below.

All the lessons for the course are completed online. Some training courses have a textbook that you use along with the online lessons. You may access the online course immediately and begin working as soon as you complete the registration process. Once you have completed the registration information any required textbook will be shipped to you via UPS.

You may have up to two opportunities to pass the exam (depending on your states guidelines). Once all course requirements are completed, you will be issued a Course Completion Certificate or your course completion will be electronically reported to your state (if applicable). It will be mailed to you via the U.S. Mail. The Certificate will be placed in the mail within 3-5 business days after you have satisfied all course requirements.
